I would have given 5star except for the length of time it took to complete.
Initial contact was made with Beverly Davidson, who outlined the procedure to follow. I liked the way the identification process was carried out by an email app with relative ease. Most of my contact was made to and from Lauren Jarmain Chew via email for my detail responses. My location was not far from the solicitors so I could speed up the process. I thought this would help but it still took 6 months to complete. Communication between buyers solicitors and Lauren was poor. It took an age to go through the stages to make a contract.
In the later part I resorted to phoning weekly to get an update as to progress. In hindsight I wish that Lauren or her assistants could have kept me more aware at each stage. A timeline tick list of what I needed to done in advance would help.
I like to mention that the assistant,
Sam was perfect in his roll in this conveyancing.

Thank you for your feedback - unfortunately the solicitor acting for your buyer did take longer than usual to raise enquiries and handle the transaction in a speedy manner. Even your estate agent was continually frustrated, as were we, with how long the transaction took but we did do all that we could to push it along for you and we are sorry that you felt you were not updated enough. We note however that you have stated that you would use us again in the future so we look forward to assisting you then.

Lauren was amazing
It was a bit confusing at first as we were emailed and contacted by multiple people. However, once we were passed to Lauren the experience was great. She was very thorough and answered every question promptly.

Conveyancing
I had a bad experience last year with trying to buy a property with a different cheap web-based solicitors (I won't mention their name) where the sale collapsed because of the couple selling split up and pulled out at the last minute (I signed the contract, they didn't) However, I lay the blame at my then solicitors. Had they been quicker this would not have been my problem. I can recall reading an email chain I don't think I was meant to receive where the sellers solicitors were berating mine for the delay. The process cost me money, time and stress. I mention this, not simply to moan but to contrast my experience with David Barney & Co.
This time I emailed 2 local solicitors in mid-Feb to get a quote for buying a property. 1 solicitors did not get back to me, David Barney & Co called me back within 30mins, I took this as a good sign and I was correct. I don't think I had to wait more than hour for a response to any query, and the process operated like a well oiled machine, and was largely stress free. I was working to a tight deadline with the rise in stamp duty and asked if it was possible. I was told that no promises could be made, but they would try. They under-promised and over-delivered. My purchase went through on 31st March saving a couple of thousand pounds. A bad, but cheap solicitor will cost you money, a good solicitor will save you money.

Fantastic service
I used DB&Co for the sale of my shared ownership flat and couldn’t recommend them enough. They were transparent, efficient, worked very hard to push my sale through and made the process as stress free as possible. Lauren was absolutely fantastic and was in constant communication with us to keep us informed as to the sale.
