Conveyancing delays

We agreed the sale of our house and purchase of the new house mid-June 2025. We contacted Swinburne Maddison, who had been dealing with our matters over many years. Laura Doree was the solicitor we were allocated to for the conveyancing. She said it would take typically 8 - 10 weeks, so we agreed with our buyer and the seller of the new house for completion in first week of September. However there were many delays and we got the strong impression that questions from our buyers solicitor and also difficulties with the Land Registry were not considered until late August or early September, even though they were known about early on. Eventually completion was 8th October, causing us and the seller a lot of difficulties. Laura Doree apparently left the firm soon after completion, whether dismissed or voluntary, I don't know! Although ultimately all was completed, we were very unhappy with the delays.
