I instructed Sharon as a solicitor to review a settlement agreement.
Being hit by redundancy is horribly stressful and you do feel like you are a bit in freefall.
However, I felt like I was in safe hands.
From my first dealings with Milly (her secretary) through to the actual meeting with Sharon, the process was really smooth and clear.
We went through all the details and I felt I was then in an informed and clear position to make the decision to sign the agreement.

Above and beyond, couldn’t ask for better service

My partner and I were first time buyers and clueless. We were hoping it would be a straight forward process, but alas difficulties arose. The overall experience of selling a property at distance was extremely demanding for us, and I decided on Borneo Martell Turner Coulson after searching range of online reviews and friends' recommendations. There were long strings of emails involved with Carol's assistant over time involving the Estate Agents for the property and people aborting their wish to buy. Carol contacted me more directly when we were despairing of succeeding through the route we had chosen and I gained more confidence from that. We followed her advice about an important choice when our minds were undecided. Communicating well earlier on included lacking confidence that it worked best for us.

Mohamed was incredibly rude on the phone, stating that he was wasting his time (on a 5 minute call) without even listening to the case we were presenting or answering any question. He also implied we didn't have enough money to pursue a case. Unprofessional and rude, don't contact them if you need any help.

As a first-time buyer, the process of purchasing a home can be quite overwhelming, and I did find the communication a bit lacking at times during the early stages — responses were sometimes delayed, which was frustrating when trying to understand the next steps. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t give a full 5 stars.

That said, once things got moving, the team were professional, helpful, and supportive throughout the remainder of the process. They handled everything efficiently, kept me updated as we approached exchange, and answered any questions I had with clarity. I really appreciated their effort in the final stages to ensure everything went smoothly. Overall, a very good experience.

About this branch

Description

Borneo Hughes Martell had been a well-known name in Northampton since the early 1970s although its history as a Bedford based law firm can be traced as far back as 1869. Since 1982 it had based its practice in offices that had formerly been the science block of Notre Dame Convent School in the town centre. The firm Turner Coulston was formed in 1993 when local solicitors Keith Turner & Ashton merged with Leo Coulston & Co and continued business from the Billing Road offices that Leo Coulston & Co had occupied for many years. In 1996, the firm acquired the legal practice of Clark & Co in Kettering and then incorporated Hodson Margetts, solicitors in Raunds in 2004. Today, the 9 partner firm of Borneo Martell Turner Coulston and its total staff of around 50 people across its offices in Northampton and Kettering offers a comprehensive legal service to both commercial and individual clients. We have a strong team of lawyers and support staff enabling us to offer our clients expert advice in a broader range of areas.
