Friendly but Sometimes Slow Helpful Once You Speak to Them
We were initially recommended Stephen Rimmer and started buying our first property, which went well at first, but the process dragged due to council delays and we ultimately cancelled that purchase. Transferring to a new property with Lewis Banks was easy and moved along fairly smoothly.
However, there were some issues: the searches he said he started before going on holiday hadn’t actually been done, and we had to follow up via his assistant. Email responses were slow, and sometimes it seemed he hadn’t read our emails until we phoned. A couple of regular updates would have made things much less stressful.
Overall, the team is friendly and competent, but communication could be improved.

First time house purchase
Excellent service from the beginning to end! Lewis kept us updated with every thing that was happening with our purchase. Couldn’t have asked for more and the sale completed within 4 months. Would definitely recommend.

Review
Lewis was great in many ways, polite and professional and most of the time excellent at keeping in touch with us. However like most solicitors he had a habit of cherry-picking which of our inquiries he would answer. Most importantly when we asked to see documents the vendor had indicated were 'attached' to their TA^ form but was missing from the material he send us - rather than complying with our request he persisted in telling me why we did not need it. I remain unconvinced that one does not need a copy of a completion certificate for significant structural work- even if this occurred just over 10 years ago. To be fair initially there was some miscommunication over this issue and it was resolved in the end but only after a struggle and effort on our part.

On it when it mattered
We used Lewis for purchase only conveyancing. Some initial delays with response to communications early on in the process but leading up to exchange Lewis’ tenacity came to the fore and secured the date we had been long waiting for. Will use him again for our house sale.
