I have been a client of EMG Solicitors for almost 9 years and I highly encourage anyone who requires a deputyship due to a lack of mental capacity in the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom to avoid this firm at all costs. I do not believe they will have your best interest at heart, nor do I believe they will respect or acknowledge your autonomy when living in a foreign jurisdiction, especially if you have proven to maintain mental capacity. Beliefs, values, morals, political, and religious views are subject to be disregarded, as I have found with mine. I can recall a recent instance where they tried to obtain confidential patient information from my psychiatrist without my knowledge and consent, albeit on unfounded concerns, with total disregard for local laws of the jurisdiction I live in while infringing upon my autonomy and privacy.
Comments about poor communication and work ethic are especially true and should not be disregarded. It is common for employees to take frequent leaves and holidays at the expense of the client. More often than not, I find response time to take more than 24 hours even if you are in need of assistance, no matter how dire this particular matter(s)/ situation is. If an employee is on holiday, a response time can take a week or longer. When they do finally email, be warned it will more than likely be at an inconvenient time, such as minutes before or after closing, which in cases like mine can be late into the night. The deputyship system itself is flawed and prone to abuse in the name of profit. Don't be fooled by the accolades.
